How do scientists and engineers use practices and collaboration to answer questions and solve problems?
In this first unit, we look at how scientists and engineering communicate and collaborate with one another to achieve a common goal. We also begin to explore the Science & Engineering Practices, learning what is required in a thoughtful model and how to support a claim with evidence.
Students will be assessed on 4 standards (Performance Expectations). Click on a PE below to learn more.
- PE8-1: Develop an understanding of positive collaboration and the benefits of working as a team member.
- PE8-2: Construct an explanation based on evidence to support a claim.
- PE8-3: Create and use a model to present a solution to a problem.
- PE8-6: Use science and engineering practices to solve a design problem and/or to answer a scientific question.
